Danville, Montour County--Middle school mess. The Susquehanna River took its toll on this part of Danville.

Amanda furlong says, "There was water as far as the eye could see. There were rescue boats making sure people weren't in the school."

Amanda furlong owns the Rita's just across the street from the middle school.

She said while the water only barely reached her business, the school suffered a different story.

In fact, most of Route 11 here in Danville was completely underwater.

Furlong adds, "It just wasn't safe. There was stuff in the water. It was a mucky mess."

For that reason, Danville Superintendent Cheryl Latorre says no one is allowed in or near the school because she isn't sure of the health hazards inside.

Clean-up crews were busy trying to salvage what they could and dry out the building Monday, but it's a task that will most definitely take a lot of time.

Furlong notes, "It's something you don't believe until you see. There was probably so much stuff in there that was ruined. It's sad to see."
