Newsmakers to Feature American Cancer Society Relay for Life May 1st

  This Sunday's Newsmakers on WBRE-TV will focus on the American Cancer Society and the Relay for Life. The program is hosted by Senior Producer Jayne Ann Bugda and I-Team Reporter Andy Mehalshick.

    Bugda and Mehalshick will have as their guests Jamie Kane, of the American Cancer Society and Russell Keeler, Chairperson for the Wyoming Valley Relay for Life.

    The panel will discuss the history of Relay for Life, the Paint the Town Purple Week in Wilkes-Barre and discuss the many programs and sevices offered by the American Cancer Society. They will also discuss the American Cancer Society's third Cancer Prevention Sudy (CPS-3) which is taking place during the Hazleton Relay for Life. Information on how to get involved in a Relay for Life across Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania will also be discussed. The Relay for Life serves as the one of the American Cancer Society's biggest fundraisers.

    Newsmakers airs on WBRE TV Sunday, May 1st at 5:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. The program will be rebroadcast on WBRE-TV on Sunday, May 8th at 5:30 a.m. Newsmakers will also air Saturday, May 7th at 6 a.m. on WYOU TV.
