Penguins Get Goaltender From San Jose

Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero announced today that the Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired goaltender Nolan Schaefer from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a seventh round selection in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Schaefer will be assigned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League (AHL). Schaefer, 27, appeared in seven NHL games in the 2005-06 season with the Sharks posting a 5-1-0 record, a 1.88 goals against average, and a .920 save percentage. The 6-2, 200 lbs native of Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan was originally a fifth-round pick (166th overall) of the San Jose Sharks in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
