BARONS FALTER IN LATE INNINGS VS. PAWTUCKET

THE SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE RED BARONS LOST FOR THE SIXTH TIME IN THEIR LAST SEVEN GAMES WEDNESDAY NIGHT, FALLING TO THE PAWTUCKET PAW SOX, 3-2 AT LACKAWANNA COUNTY STADIUM. THE BARONS HAD A 2-1 LEAD GOING INTO THE SEVENTH INNING, BUT SINGLE RUNS IN THE SEVENTH AND EIGHTH HELPED THE PAW SIX GAIN THE VICTORY AND DROP THE BARONS INTO THE CELLAR IN THE INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH DIVISION. BARONS STARTING PITCHER MIKE BACSIK WENT SEVEN INNINGS, GIVING UP TWO RUNS ON SIX HITS, WHILE RELIEVER DAN GEISE PITCHED THE FINAL TWO INNINGS, GIVING UP THE GAME WINNING RUN ON SHAWN WOOTEN`S RBI SINGLE IN THE 8TH INNING. GEISE TOOK THE LOSS, HIS THIRD AGAINST TWO VICTORIES THIS SEASON. THE TWO TEAMS WILL WRAP UP THEIR SERIES THURSDAY MORNING AT ELEVEN AT LACKAWANNA COUNTY STADIUM. THE BARONS THEN LEAVE FOR A WEEKEND SERIES AT ROCHESTER BEFORE COMING BACK FOR A EIGHT GAME HOMESTAND ON TUESDAY, MAY 17.
