Private School Facing Eviction

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
(Friday, July 7th) The Saint Rose Academy in Mayfield is struggling to stay open - but has managed to ward off being evicted for at least another month. The school paid the Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority $10,000 Friday morning. That money bought Saint Rose some time to pay for the Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority Center. It was supposed to close the three and a half million dollar sale in December, but after more than four contract extensions, there was still no deal, and the authority threatened to shut down the school. Today`s payment gives the school one final extension until August 1st when it must pay for the purchase or pay a $120,000 occupancy fee, or face being evicted.
