Senior Citizen Robbed in Wilkes-Barre Bar

(Wednesday, May 17) An Exeter man is charged with robbing a woman at knifepoint in a Wilkes-Barre bar. The robbery happened at Councilman Jim Mccarthy`s Tavern on the Hill on East Northampton Street just after 4:30 Wednesday afternoon. Police say 24-year-old William Graham entered the bar, pointed a knife at 69-year-old Marylea Guchanas of Kingston, and took her purse. They tell us the purse and clothing from graham were discovered a short distance away on Pershing Street. Graham was eventually found hiding in a small crawl space off a closet in an apartment on South Welles Street in the city after police received a tip.
