breaking news
(Friday, April 28) Some residents in Plains Township say they didn`t know what was happening Friday afternoon.
They say their homes were rumbling as more than a dozen cars jumped the tracks along a stretch of Canadian Pacific Railway around 3:30 and sprawled out all over the place.
The wayward zig-zagging cars brought down telephone poles and sheared bark from trees.
The fact that none of the derailed cars was filled with hazardous materials was a blessing to neighbors and emergency officials, but detours had to be set up after the derailment and that area is expected to be closed for days while the cleanup occurs.
