Bible Unscathed in Luzerne County Fire

(Wednesday. March 22) Some might call it "a sign from above." One of the only items to make it through a raging fire in Ashley last week is a bible that is more than 50-years-old. The Bible was wet, but not burned. Marion Kimball who owned the home barely made it out when the fire began and she`s still too shaken to speak, but for family members, the fire only strengthens their faith in a higher power. "I take it as a sign that god didn`t want my mother yet. She has a purpose here," said Jackie Powell, Kimballs daughter. She lent The Bible to one of the men who`s demolishing the house. He wanted to take pictures of it and keep it safe while it dries out.
