Updated: January 7, 2009
(Monday, March 20) Investigators say a fire that nearly destroyed three row homes in Wilkes-Barre and left six people without a place to stay was intentionally set. The fire started out as a small fire on the front porch early Monday morning and quickly engulfed the three row homes on Poplar Street. Now police are looking for a fire bug and the victims, who are left without much more than the clothes on their backs, are wondering why their homes were targeted. Police and fire investigators say they are investigating a person of interest, a man who was caught on a home surveillance system from a neighbor`s yard.
