Double-Murder Trial to Start Monday

(Sunday, January 22) A high profile double-murder trial is scheduled to begin Monday morning in Bradford County. Dustin Briggs is accused of killing Bradford County sheriff`s deputies Christopher Burgert and Michael VanKuren back in March 2004. Prosecutors say Briggs shot-and-killed the deputies as they tried to serve him an arrest warrent. Opening statements in the trial are slated to begin at 9:00 AM at the Bradford County Courthouse in Towanda. WYOU News will have a crew at the courthouse on Monday...if the proceedings are not cancelled due to snow...look for our reports beginning Monday night.
