New carbondale Councilman To Give Back Salary

Updated: January 7, 2009
A familiar figure is back in the spotlight in Carbondale. The former police chief is now a Councilman and he`s promised to give up his salary for a good cause. Dominick Andidora was sworn in Monday. He was with the Carbondale Police force for 38 years and at the helm for the last eight. He`s following through on a campaign promise to give his salary back to the community. "What I`m going to do with that is for the winter months now I`m going to get a couple of kids from the school, get them together and use that money to pay them. And what they`re going to do is go around shoveling the sidewalks for these people who can`t, like the disabled or older people who really can`t shovel the sidewalks so they don`t get a citation," said Andidora. If you want to take advantage of this generosity, Andidora says you can contact the police department or city hall and get your name on a list of homes to be shoveled.
