Southern to Sell PG Energy to UGI 01/28/06

By: Import User
Updated: January 25, 2007
U-g-i Utilities will buy PG Energy for 5-hundred 80 million dollars. Southern Union actually owns PG Energy. The company had planned on making Scranton it`s headquarters in the downtown office building. That`s changed. Southern Union says they now plans to move it`s headquarters to Houston, Texas. So the fate of the 16-million dollar still unfinished building remains unclear. As for p-g energy`s 420- employees, We`re told lay-offs may be possible but most will have opportunities with UGI after reorganization and consolidation plans are in place. Meanwhile, the City of Scranton is now looking for new tenants for the Lackawanna Avenue building.. But Scranton Mayor Chris Doughtery tells us he`s confident it will be filled once it opens later this year.
