Shooting Suspects Re-Arrested

A stunning twist Wednesday night in a shooting investigation in Hazleton .
17 year old Freddy Mendoza and his girlfriend-18 year old Christina Covey, were re-arrested Wednesday night just hours after they had been set free.
They had a hearing earlier on Wednesday on charges that Mendoza shot 49-year old Adam Miranda twice on October 22nd. That shooting happened at a home on South Cedar Street. When police say a drug deal went bad. Covey was charged with helping Mendoza hide from police.
But today Judge Joseph Zola, said there was not enough evidence, this after a keywitness said he never saw Mendoza shoot miranda.
But tonight,that same witness said he lied at the hearing..

"Information was gathered after the hearing that the wintess who testified was not telling the truth when he was on the stand and unable to identify the defendants as the people involved in the shooting. The reason given the person feared for safety of his family ,hesitant to testify and tell the truth."
Mendoza is locked up. Covey is free on $50,000 bail.
