Williamsport Check Scam 11/8/05

In Williamsport, a check writing scam leaves area businesses seeing red. According to Williamsport Police, Russell Travers III, Lubrianna Golden and James Marius wrote more than one hundred checks on Travers` closed bank account. One of the businesses vicitmized by the scam was the Robert M. Sides Music Store. Investigators say the trio used their scam to buy nearly four-thousand dollars worth of merchandise. So far, investigators have not recovered any of the music equipment. Police don`t know how many other local businesses may have also received the bad checks. The three men charged are now awaiting a preliminary hearing.
