A suspicious smell in Northumberland County had officials searching the area and even locking down a local school. The search for the unknown gas this afternoon happened between Sunbury and Upper Augusta Township. Calls regarding an unidentified smell came in around 11:30 this morning to the 911 center. The smell was near the Chief Shikellamy Elementary School which prompted the school to bring all the children in from the outside and keep them indoors. After a two hour search, officials say they were unable to locate the origin of the smell which did not appear to be harmful.
