Police say 10 juveniles and three adults were involved in the late-night riot at the Lackawanna Little League carnival at Dewey Avenue and Jackson Street.
State Trooper Joe Gaughan who is also a baseball coach tried to arrest a suspect for disorderly conduct and underage drinking when a group of teens assaulted him.
Investigators say the riot is connected to a gang --called "J-R-B."
There was no security at the carnival last night but officers have now been hired to keep the crowds safe.
Trooper Gaughan suffered a cut on his face and an injured shoulder.
