Newspaper Reporter In Court On Sex Crimes 8/18/05

A long-time area newspaper reporter heads to court on attempted child sex charges. 48 year-old Steve Sembrat of Wilkes-Barre appeared in a Philadelphia area magistrate`s court today. Sembrat waived his right to a preliminary hearing. Police arrested the veteran reporter on July 31, when they say he was preparing to meet and have sex with who he believed to be a 13 year-old girl he met on the internet She turned out to be an undercover agent. Sembrat worked for years as a reporter for the Times Leader in Wilkes-Barre before the paper fired him following his arrest. He posted bail on August 10th. Sembrat next faces a court arraignment October 6th.
