Updated: January 25, 2007
The Susquehanna River is getting national attention tonight. And, its not the kind of attention it needs.. nor is it the kind of attention that area residents-- can be proud of... The Susquehanna tops the list of the Nations most Endangered Rivers. The Conservation group, "American Rivers" released a report Wednesday that says the Susquehanna is being polluted by raw sewage and chemicals and as a consequence it is polluting the entire Chesapeake bay. The report indicates that our local river--poses serious environmental and health dangers.. Rebecca Wodder of the President American Rivers "When it rains in America, sewage pours all across america..rivers link one town`s toilets to the next town`s faucets..and when it rains sewage pours into the rivers". That report says that plans for an inflatable dam in Wilkes-Barre..should be scrubbed,until- the Susquehanna is cleaned up.
