breaking news
A Lackawanna county family`s home is a total loss after a fire this morning.
Thick smoke and flames shot through the roof at the Corby home on Laurel Hill road in Newton township around 10:30.
Just an hour before, owner Al Corby and his wife, Diane, left to run some errands. They came home to the blaze at their 100 year old house where they`ve lived for the past 30 years.
The Corby`s pets were saved -- thanks to neighbors who spotted smoke, then ran in to rescue the animals.
Investigators are looking into the fire.
