Update:The official dedication of Tambur Baseball Field at Misericordia University scheduled for Saturday, March 16 has been postponed due to weather. The dedication has been rescheduled for Saturday, March 23. Bob Tambur will throw out the first pitch at 1 p.m. and the field dedication will occur at about 2:45 p.m., followed by a cookout with family and friends of the University and the Tambur family.
Misericordia University will officially dedicate Tambur Field in between games of a baseball doubleheader with DeSales University on Saturday, March 23. The dedication will acknowledge the philanthropy and generosity of Robert L. Tambur, his family and the Tambur Family Foundation.
Mr. Tambur will throw out the first pitch of the first game at 1 p.m.
Tambur Field is located on about four acres of land adjacent to the John and Mary Metz Field House in the Anderson Outdoor Athletic Complex near the North Gate of the upper campus. The playing surface contains a special fescue blend chosen because of its characteristics for athletic play and its maintenance friendliness.
Installed in June 2012, the Cougars baseball team did not play on the surface until the 2013 season in order to give the sod time to root. The $520,000 ballpark also features an electronic scoreboard in straightaway left field, an irrigation system, sprinkler systems, individual bullpens for the home and away teams, as well as dugouts for the teams and bleachers for the fans.
