Jim Thorpe, Carbon County -- A man carrying a sign with the phrase "Here Come The Irish" made his way along Broadway in Jim Thorpe Sunday afternoon for the 16th Annual Carbon County Saint Patrick's Parade. And what a day for a parade with sunshine and temperatures in the 50's. This festive occasion in such fine weather conditions was enough to attract Patrice Molesevich of Coal Township who came with family and friends. "It's our first time coming here. We like Jim Thorpe so we just wanted to come out and see what it's all about," she said.

This parade is certainly about pipe bands. It even had a Pennsylvania State Police Mounted Unit. In short, it had plenty to make for some family friendly fun. "I'm wishing that I would have brought my grandchildren with me because it's such a nice area and a lot of families are here so next year they will be here with me," said Carol Scandle of Shamokin.

The historic community attracted many in the crowd who came decked out in green and were definitely ready to let loose. Timothy Taylor, Jr. of Philadelphia came to celebrate his heritage. He said, "Half Irish. As you can tell I'm a straight-up Ginger," as he removed his hat to reveal his red hair. He's also a bit of a crooner as he sang a few lines from the song "The Wild Rover". Whether you're Irish or not, you're more than welcome to rove to Jim Thorpe for a parade that seems to get better each year.
