Middle Smithfield Township, Monroe County - Teens are copying a new internet sensation that could land them in trouble with the police. It's called "gallon smashing." Kids grab gallon jugs then pretend to fall as they hurl the containers onto the floor.

Many teens believe it's a silly prank but police say it's a crime. Two Pocono teens have been charged with Criminal Mischief for smashing milk containers inside a gas station.  They are 18-year-old Avery Ammerman and an unnamed 14-year-old.

Ralph Rittle was on duty at Scotty's Gas Station in Middle Smithfield Township when it happened. "I couldn't believe it," he remarked. He told Eyewitness News the teens walked into the store last week and headed to the coolers. He continued, "They smashed the two milks together, then acted like they were hurt and ran out the front."

Marian Ortiz helped Ralph clean up the milk mess. She said us the liquid was splattered all over the walls, refrigerator glass, and floor.

Ralph was angry. He said, "I wanted to take them and, you know, put them inside the milk container."

But he didn't. He called the police and the teens were arrested. Ralph said, "It's not cool. It's damaging things and you know, somebody is going to get hurt." Ortiz added, "Kids need to learn responsibility. This is not a joke."
