Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County - New search warrants have been filed in the case of the fatal hit and run crash in Wilkes-Barre that killed 5 year old Kevin Miller. Investigators say that 22 year old Thomas Letteer Junior was driving his dad's red Pontiac Grand AM back in December of 2011 when he was involved in a three car crash in Plains.
District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis says, "We filed a warrant to obtain some of the pictures of that vehicle. The accident occurred back in December of 2011 so we wanted the pictures just to verify to look at the pictures before and what we are looking at right now."
When police seized the car last Friday, there was a noticeable dent on the front passenger side as well as what appeared to be a new headlight. Investigators now want to know if those damages date back to the 2011 crash or if they could have occurred the night Kevin Miller was fatally hit.
In addition to pictures of the car, police are also reviewing cell phone records between Letteer and his girlfriend Abigail Tarver, as well as between Tarver and one of her friends. According to court documents Tarver confided in a friend that Letteer had hit someone and killed them. After Tarver found out her friend had provided that information to investigators she texted her quote "I can't (expletive) believe you"
But the question on many people's minds remains, why hasn't there been an arrest yet in the case? "Right now our focus is really on the investigation. We're putting everything together and when we feel it is time to make the arrest it will come," explains Salavantis.
