The city- like many others across the state and country - is facing a budget shortfall.
City workers received a letter this week.
Mayor Tom Leighton says the biggest short fall comes from a 1.2 million dollar deficit owed by the county tax collector Centax.
Leighton says this is a tough thing to ask during a difficult economic time - but its the only option for the city right now...
The furlough would begin in Mid-November.
