A special Lifetime Ambassador Award will be presented to Clayton Karambelas for his years of service as a Goodwill Ambassador for The Chamber, for nonprofits throughout the area, and for the Wilkes-Barre community.
The Chamber's Distinguished Citizen Award (sponsored by Luzerne Bank) is presented to individuals who have achieved the highest level of professional excellence and who, at the same time, have given their best for the betterment of the Greater Wilkes-Barre area. "The Board and Staff of Luzerne Bank are very proud to continue sponsorship of the Distinguished Citizen Award.
This award represents recognition of special persons that have made our lives a little brighter and our area a better place in which to live, and Bobby Soper has most certainly done that. He has made a significant impact on the region obviously through the growth and success of Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. At the same time, he has helped countless organizations in our community, and his energy and drive have made a difference to so many people that call our region home," said Robert Snyder, President/CEO of Luzerne Bank.
The Chamber will also be presenting the Small Business of the Year award, presented by PNC Bank, at the dinner to Ruth and Kim Borland of Borland and Borland Law. In addition to their commitment to the legal profession, Ruth and Kim are well known in the community for the creation of the Valley Santa program and for the time and talent they dedicate to helping area youth in general, but most notably for their work with the Meyers Speech and Debate Team.
The Lifetime Ambassador Award is a special honor this year recognizing the more than 30 years of service to The Chamber and countless hours Clayton Karambelas has donated to enhance and promote the region.
The Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce's 128th Annual Dinner will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Genetti's in Downtown Wilkes-Barre.
