Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County-- 14 year old Tyler Winstead of Wilkes-Barre was laid to rest Wednesday surrounded by hundreds of family,friends and strangers. The Mt. Zion Baptist Church was filled with people who came to mourn the loss of the teenager who was shot near his Wilkes-Barre home last Thursday. Lamont Diggs held back tears as he talked with Eyewitness News about the shooting,"He was a good kid and was always smiling. He and I shared a birthday and this was not supposed to happen to someone who is so innocent." Angel Jirua said, "This tragedy will hopefully bring people in this community together..it should not have happened." Eyewitness News has learned that investigators tracked down the teenager who was with Winstead the night he was killed. Elijah Yussuf tld polcie and Eyewitness News the night of the killing that he saw a suspect fleeing the scene in a late modle red or burgundy Ford Taurus. Sources close to the case say Elijah and his family were interviewed at a home in the Stroudsburg area late Tuesday. Their home on Hill Street in Wilkes-Barre was searched by police the same day. Sources close to the probe say the search for the suspect supposedly sceen by Yussuf has been called off. We also learned that the weapon involved in the shooting has yet to be located.
