Egg-stravaganza in Mount Pocono

Mount Pocono, Monroe County - There was an Eggstravaganza in Monroe County this weekend!  100,000 Easter eggs fell from the sky for the largest Easter egg hunt in the region and it's all thanks to a local church.

Thousands and thousands of eggs rained down on Mount Pocono Saturday morning.  For the ninth year in a row, the Pocono Community Church held their annual Easter egg hunt at the Pocono Mountain Municipal Airport.  With just over one hundred thousands eggs, come thousands of excited kids!

Theresa Sinno of Long Pond says, "They said that it was going to be crowded but I was not expecting this!"

Sinno brought her son to the Easter egg hunt for the first time.  She couldn't believe the hysteria when the games began!  "They're running for the eggs, the kids are running knocking everything down, the parents are trying to hold on!  It's a run for your money!"

While most kids, like Ryan Kennedy of Jessup, were out to win the grand prize, "He's hoping to win a flat screen tv set!" exclaims Ryan's mom.  Others like little Katie Boyle were just happy with the simple things in life.  "I got a lot of pink eggs, didn't I?"

Last year due to the weather, the helicopter drop had to be cancelled.  Pastor David Crosby says that's what sets this egg hunt apart from others.  "Why a helicopter drop?  Why not!  Its fun!  Its exciting to see all these kids look up into the sky and eggs come raining out of the sky and then they get to go hunt them up!"

Volunteers from the church spent hours stuffing the eggs this week and with over one hundred thousand accounted for, no one went home empty handed!

"Everybody is going to have plenty of eggs, everybody is going to go home smiling and happy and we're having a great day today!" adds Pastor Crosby.

This marked the ninth year for the giant egg hunt.  The church dropped ten-thousand eggs the first year and it's grown every year since.
