Grief, Fear Follow Teen Murder in W-B

Tyler was a member of the GAR High School 8^th grade basketball team and an honor roll student. 13-year-old Savion Saunders of Hanover Township placed balloons at the growing memorial next door to Tyler's home. He wanted to pay his respects to his friend and try to make sense of the tragedy. "It's hard to understand how an innocent kid can get shot out of nowhere."

An autopsy determined Tyler died of a single gunshot wound to the chest. The murder case leaves neighbors and friends frightened including 12-year-old Vincent Todd of Wilkes-Barre who said, "It's kind of scary to go outside and go to the park or something 'cause like if you can get shot around here, there's a park down the street, like you can't go nowhere anymore." When Savion Saunders was asked if he now worries for his own safety he said, "a little bit".

Wilkes-Barre Mayor Tom Leighton issued a statement saying, "I want to assure the family and the people of Wilkes-Barre that we will exhaust every resource at our disposal to bring the perpetrator of this crime to justice." Mt. Zion Baptist Church will hold a remembrance for the shooting victim. The moment of silence and prayer will be held Easter Sunday morning at 11:00 at GAR High School in Wilkes-Barre.
