Hazleton, Luzerne County - A Hazleton man wants to be sure every shelter dog gets a comfortable place to sleep. Paul Kattner started a group called "Beds 4 Paws" after learning that area animal shelters desperately needed beds for dogs to lie on.

Kattner said the choice beds, which keep dogs from lying on cold, hard concrete, were expensive to buy. So with the help of several other volunteers, he decided to make them at no cost to the shelters. Using donated materials, the group has made 64 beds for Hillside SPCA in Pottsville and the Animal Resource Center of Bloomsburg.

"The stories we're getting back from the shelters warm your heart. There's a dog by the name of Mulligan down at Hillside in Pottsville that had back surgery. He's resting on one of these beds comfortably. The vet said it's the best thing for him," said Kattner.

Kattner and his crew are delivering the beds this weekend. They are always looking for supplies. If you would like to donate check visit beds4paws.com
