Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County-- Eyewitness News took a boat tour of the Susquehanna River in Luzerne County Wednesday. Andy Mehalshick and Chief Photographer Lonnie Miller joined Assistant Fire Chief Frank Slymock and fellow firefighter Ray Hayes for the 90 minute tour. The two men have rescued people on the river and fished its waters for the past four decades. We headed north and saw all kinds of debris along the riverbanks, including pieces of homes, campers, boats and personal belongings.

Slymock said, "I have ever seen it this bad. I am amazed the levees held. But they did their job. Our tour took us underneath the 8th Street Bridge in Jenkins Township. The span has become the center of controversy since any flood vctims believe the new bridge, which is lower than the old steel bridge, led to much of the flooding in the West Pittston area.
