THERRIEN TO RETURN FOR THIRD SEASON WITH PENGUINS

AFTER TAKING THE WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON PENGUINS TO THE PLAYOFFS IN HIS FIRST TWO SEASONS AS HEAD COACH, MICHEL THERRIEN IS COMING BACK FOR ANOTHER SHOT AT THE CALDER CUP. THE ORGANIZATION ANNOUNCED TODAY THAT THERRIEN HAS RE-SIGNED AS COACH OF THEIR TOP MINOR LEAGUE TEAM. THE 41 YEAR OLD THERRIEN CAME HERE IN JULY OF 2003 AFTER SIX SEASONS WITH THE MONTEAL CANADIANS. HE LED THAT TEAM TO THE NHL EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMI FINALS AT THE END OF THE 2001-2002 SEASON. IN THERRIEN`S FIRST SEASON HERE, THE PENGUINS REACHED THE CALDER CUP FINALS, THEN THIS PAST SEASON, THEY SET A TEAM RECORD FOR POINTS IN A SEASON WITH 92, MICHEL THERRIEN, COMING BACK AS HEAD COACH OF THE WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON PENGUINS
