Updated: January 7, 2009
THE WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON PENGUINS LOST THEIR SEVENTH STRAIGHT GAME WEDNESDAY NIGHT, FALLING TO THE BINGHAMTON SENATORS, 3-1. THE SENATORS TOOK THE LEAD ON A SHORTHANDED GOAL JUST 11 SECONDS INTO THE SECOND PERIOD, BUT THE PENGUINS TIED IT JUST TWO MINUTES LATER ON A SCORE BY TOMAS SUROVY. BINGHAMTON WOULD REGAIN THE LEAD ON CHRIS KELLY`S POWER PLAY GOAL A LITTLE OVER FIVE MINUTES INTO THE SECOND, AND THEY WOULD COMPLETE THE SCORING LATER IN THE PERIOD ON THEIR SECOND SHORT HANDED GOAL OF THE NIGHT. THE PENGUINS STILL HAVE JUST A THREE POINT LEAD OVER HERSHEY IN THE BATTLE FOR THE FINAL PLAYOFF SPOT IN THE AHL EAST DIVISION. HERSHEY VISITS WACHOVIA ARENA ON FRIDAY NIGHT, AND THE TWO TEAMS THEN BATTLE IN HERSHEY ON SUNDAY. THE PENGUINS HAVE LOST 11 OF THEIR LAST 14 CONTESTS.
