WILKES FRESHMAN NAMED ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

THE MIDDLE ATLANTIC FREEDOM CONFERENCE NAMED IT`S BASKETBALL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR MONDAY, AND THAT HONOR GOES TO WILKES FRESHMAN CHRIS SHOVLIN. THE G.A.R. GRADUATE JOINED WILKES AT MID SEASON, AFTER STARTING THE YEAR AT DIVISION ONE MONMOUTH. HE AVERAGED NEARLY 19 POINTS AND THREE ASSISTS A GAME, HITTING OVER 47 PERCENT OF HIS FIELD GOAL TRIES. HE LED THE TEAM IN SCORING 11 TIMES, WITH A SEASON HIGH 32 COMING AGAINST KING`S. WILKES IS THE FOURTH SEED IN THE CONFERENCE PLAYOFFS, AND WILL PLAY AT DESALES WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
