WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY - Some people trying to keep their cool decided to do something other than hit the pool Saturday night in Wilkes-Barre.
They laced up their skates and headed to the ice for public skating at the Ice Rink at Coal Street.
Skaters of all abilities enjoyed the cool sport indoors while outdoor temperatures lingered in the mid to upper 80s.
Managers hope more people become aware that the ice skating rink is open to the public. "It's a surprise that more people haven't been coming because it has been pretty brutal out there," said Ice Rink at Coal Street's program manager Joey White "I'd say the inside of this rink is between 55 and 60 degrees "
Ice Rink at Coal Street offers public skating through the summer at select times Wednesdays through Sundays. You can learn more about hours and prices by logging onto the rink's website: www.coalstreeticerink.com
