Duryea Man Charged with Murder in California

A Lackawanna County man is facing murder and robbery charges clear across the country.
Roseville California police say Eric Minchak from Duryea used a hammer and a knife to kill a 45 year old woman at a gas station.
They say it was a random murder and he was allegedly trying to steel her money.
Police caught him with the hammer in hand.
It`s news that has shaken the community he grew up in here at home.
"I was surprised, I was shocked, comes from a good family," said neighbor Walter Zagrotny.
Walter Zagrotny lived across the street from the Minchaks in Duryea.
He said Eric had five siblings, including a twin.
Minchak graduated from Seton Catholic High School in 1996.
He is now locked up in a California jail without bail.
