Jury Selection Begins in Selenksi Trial

Heightened security at the Luzerne County Courthouse marked the start of the high profile capital murder trial. A pool of 150 potential jurors had to go through metal detectors at the front doors Tuesday morning and then again at the door of the courtroom. When each of them were asked if they had heard the name Hugo Selenski, every one of them said "yes". But Selenksis attorney says the publicity is something the defendant counting on. "Mr. Selenski always insisted on a jury from luzerne county. He believes in a trial by his peers, that`s what we`re going to try to get," said defense attorney Demetrius Fannick. Judge Peter Paul Olzsewski began bringing back jurors for individual questioning this afternoon. So far, two men have been seated. In the end, 12 jurors and four alternates will be seated. We`re told the jury selection portion of the trial could last for the rest of this week and into early next week.
