Woman Struck By Car, Police Investigating 10/26/05

A woman is in the hospital after being hit by a car in Schuykill County Wednesday evening. It happened at Routes 443 and 309, at Leiby`s intersection in Tamaqua. West Penn Township Police say 49 year-old Darlene Rao from Lansford, darted out in traffic, and was hit by a car around 6pm tonight. Witnesses say the car was going about 40-miles an hour at the time. Emergency crews treated Rao on the scene, and then flew her to the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown. No word on her condition, charges are pending.
