Employees at Goulds Pumps in Ashland hit the picket lines at midnight.
240 members of the United Steelworkers of America Local Union 14372 chose not to accept the terms of a new contract offer.
The main sticking points, pensions and healthcare.
"Last resort. We tried to the end more or less getting things together, and it just didn`t work."
"The union has a signed offer from the company to resume negotiations working under the terms of the past contract. We`re hopeful that ay any point in time we get a call from the union and we`re ready to resume those negotiations."
Goulds Pumps has been in Ashland since 1979.
