People in Lackawanna county walked in memory of a man who fought for our area`s veterans today.
Hundreds walked from army tank to army tank in Jessup in honor of the borough`s former mayor, Rocco Valvano.
Valvano, a veteran of World War two, worked tirelessly until his death last July for those who sacrificed for our country.
It`s today`s type of citizenship that Pennsylvania`s Homeland Security director says will help defeat the terrorists.
"We can beat these guys today and it`s another generation that showed us how to do that- it`s Rocco`s generation the generation of our parents and grandparents."
Volvano worked to make sure the vets at the "Gino Merli Northeast Veterans Center" in Scranton were not forgotten.
Proceeds from the seven mile walk will be used for a holiday party at the Merli center.
