Scranton, Lackawanna County - After years of campaigning, voters in Pennsylvania have the ability to make history Tuesday night.

A Lackawanna County woman who is on the ballot for the Pennsylvania Attorney General's race could become the first woman and first democrat elected to the office.

Kathleen Kane is a democrat and native of West Scranton. She is running against Cumberland County District Attorney David Freed.

The attorney general position first became an elected position in 1980.

"I'm very optimistic, I'm very hopeful and I hope that the voters are ready for an independent watchdog in the attorney general's office," Kane said.
