Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County- 19 year old Rebecca McCallick had a promising future and had everything going her way until a person driving a pick-up truck rumbled up the street near her apartment. McCallick was struck and killed by a black pick-up truck on the morning of July 24 at around 2:30 a.m. Police say they are actively working the case but thus far have not said if they have a suspect. People are talking and reacting about the case. Joyce Kruzel of Wilkes-Barre said, "It is so sad. I have a 20 year old granddaughter and it would be terrible if something like this happened to here. " Kelly Brown also of Wilkes-Barre said, "How can someone live their life knowing they killed somebody? I hope they come forward and I hope maybe a friend of his comes forward." Wilkes-Barre Mayor Tom Leighton made a plea to the pubic. He said, "I urge anyone with any information to come forward. Even information that doesn't seem important may help solve this case." The family s offering a $5,000 reward and Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction. A reward fund has also been set up at the Citizen's Bank branch in Mountain Top.
