Reported by: Jeff Chirico Wednesday, Jun 10, 2009 @05:45pm EDT The economy has many people thinking twice about where they spend their money.
In tonight's Angie's List report, how you can negotiate a better deal with your tv, phone or internet provider.
Landline and cell phone service providers and cable, satellite and internet service providers made Angie's Lists' "most complained about categories" for 2008. Angie Hicks of Angie's List.com says "the most common complaint among these services has really come down to responsiveness -- that is where they were graded low. In this economy, it's really important for all companies to think about customer service because going that extra mile can really make a difference in saving a customer." The best way to negotiate better prices with your service providers is to talk with the customer retention department. Hicks say "find out what kind of deals they are offering new customers and call and see if you can get the same deal. The best bet for getting that deal is to talk to the retention department because they want to keep you as a customer." Negoatiate but be prepared to leave. If you're provider can't come down on their price, don't hesitate to change companies. Also, ask about bundling packages for multiple services from the same company but be sure to read the fine print about introductory rates, installation charges and early cancellation fees. ![]() |
