Reported by: Jeff Chirico Wednesday, Jun 10, 2009 @05:39pm EDT Being in a fender bender can be a hassle. Getting your car fixed can be an even bigger hassle.
In tonight's Angie's List report, we'll tell you how to find the best body shop or collision repair center.
According to national transportation statistics there are 6-million auto accidents a year. "In a recent Angie's list poll, 71 percent of the respondents said they had an auto accident within the past two years that required repair. And 25 percent of the respondents said they actually had a problem with the auto body shop they went to." Nearly one in four reported some sort of problem during the repair process. Auto techs recommend never taking a chance on an unknown repair shop or mechanic. "Checking with services like Angie's List and friends and family will give you a list to start with, but get three estimates." Then take your car to a repair shop with a good history. Average repair time is about 2 weeks. Also, don't waste time getting the damage fixed. "One of the biggest mistakes auto repair companies tell us that consumer make is they wait to make repairs. So if they have an accident, they wait and may end up with rust on the spot which just leads to more costs in the repair work." ![]() |
