Wednesday, May 27, 2009 @05:07pm EDT Regarded as one of the nations top high school quarterback prospects, Kevin Newsome is the newest member of the Nittany Nation. Before he committed to Penn State, Newsome was constantly being asked if he was going to Penn State. He made his decision and now he will be in a dog fight with another quarterback, West Scranton's Matt McGloin.
"We're just gonna fight it out to the end..." Newsome said when asked about fighting for the starting spot. Not only will he have to fight it out with McGloin, Newsome will have to prove to Joe Paterno he has what it takes to be the starter for the Lions. "There's no messing around with Joe. Coach Joe is everything from the kicker, to the full back, to the quarterback and he wil get you straight." Newsome is hopefull Paterno will get him straight enough to be the one starting on the field for first game of the season. When asked if he feels like a true Nittany Lion, he replied he won't until he runs out of the tunnel at Beaver Stadium on Sept. 5th against Akron and wins. |
