Reported by: Joe Holden Tuesday, May 5, 2009 @11:00pm EDT LUZERNE COUNTY- Eyewitness News learned Tuesday evening that St. Aloysius Parochial School and Saints Peter and Paul Parochial School in Plains Township will close effective at the end of the school year. That's according to sources inside both school communities and the parish pastor, Rev. Duane Gavitt. We're told the Diocese of Scranton informed administrators at the parish level that the plan would be carried out at the conclusion of the school year. Sources said declining enrollment and rising costs are major factors in the decision. ![]() |
