Tuesday, Mar 17, 2009 @03:28pm EDT Sometimes in sports you play for much more than just winning. Nativity is a small Catholic school on the top of the hill in Pottsville. They don't have a lot of students, but they do have a lot of spirit on and off the court. There is just something special about that school. And its much more than just a championship girls basketball program. She doesn't sit on the bench holding hands with other teammates, but Sammi Stripe is part of Nativity basketball. Its a bond that can not be broken. Stripe died in a car accident when she was only 12. Everyone remembers her love for hoops. Four years have passed, yet Sammi hasn't missed practices or games. These golden girls know opponents have the odds against then because of their special sixth player. Winning another single A state championship doesn't just add to Nativity's tradition, it finishes the dream season for Sammi Stripe.
