MAJOR SHOPPING COMES TO SNYDER COUNTY

Shopping is taking on a whole new look in Snyder County. The Monroe Marketplace will officially open next week in Shamokin Dam. It is home to 17 new retailers and restaurants including Kohls, Target and Best Buy. Officials say it will create more than 1300 full and part time jobs.

BOSCOV'S SALE APPROVED

A bankruptcy judge approved plans Wednesday for the sale of the Boscov's store chain. An auction will take place October twentieth. Versa Capital Management in Philadelphia has offered to pay 11 million dollars and assume Boscov's nearly 300 million dollars in debt.

SCHUYLKILL BAR CLOSES

In Schuylkill County, a popular late night hot spot has tapped its last beer. The Brass Tap on East Norwegian Street in Pottsville closed in late August after 17 years. According to the Pottsville Republican, the owner was tired of operating the business.

FINE DINING IN LUZERNE COUNTY

In Luzerne County, there's a new place for fine dining. Table 247 officially opened in September. It's in the former Gel Piaz restaurant space. And surprise it's located at 247 Wyoming Avenue in Kingston.

DOGGIE DAY CARE IN SCRANTON

And in Scranton, dogs now have a place to play the day away. Buddy's Barking Lot on North Main Avenue is a doggie daycare. This is the owner Eileen Fleming's third day care. Her other two are in New York. She says it's a new concept in Scranton and one that she's sure local dogs and their owners will love. "We don't have crates or cages. It’s just a place they can all socialize. Have fun and play and take naps. Eat their lunch." Buddy's Barking Lot is open weekdays for families who don't want to leave their pooches alone during the day.
