GROCERY STORE FOR SALE After more than a half century in the same family, Brunetti's Market in West Scranton is up for sale. Owner John Brunetti is retiring but says he'll keep the business open until he finds a buyer. He'll also keep working there through the transition to ensure the new owner knows how to operate the store.

RESTAURANTS CLOSE --Ruby Tuesdays on Kidder Street in Wilkes-Barre closed last month. A spokeswoman for the restaurant chain says the company chose not to renew its lease. It had been in the Triangle Plaza for fifteen years. Nearby locations in Moosic and Dickson City are still open. Another Luzerne County restaurant has closed its doors. Uno Chicago in Wilkes-Barre Township locked its doors last month. The owners wouldn't comment on why this restaurant shut down. But the Dickson City location is still open. The Uno franchise runs more than 200 restaurants nationwide.

RESTAURANT OPENS There's a new place to eat in Wilkes-Barre Township. Portafino Ristorante is located on Schechter Drive right across from the Wachovia Arena. Portafino serves a wide variety of Italian foods and pizza.

GROCERY STORE CHAIN GROWS Gerrity's Store plans to open a new store in Dallas Township this summer. The new location will take the place of the BiLo supermarket in the Country Club Shopping Center. Gerrity's held a job fair in July to recruit workers. Managers expect to hire about fifty people.

CLOTHING STORE TROUBLES A growing force in low-priced fashion announced it filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last month. Steve and Barry's has three locations in our area --Frackville, Wilkes-Barre and Scranton. The company says it's considering selling all or some of its stores to repay debt. The company has not decided which stores may close.
