A New Yorker's perspectiveAs a born and bred "New Yorker," my initial exposure to Northeast PA began back in 1990 when we purchased a vacation home in Lake Wallenpaupack in Wayne County. My entire family thoroughly enjoyed our weekend visits all year long, taking full advantage of all the wonderful family activities that exist in the area: boating, fishing water skiing, snow skiing, etc. Over the years we grew to appreciate life on "the other side of the Hudson" and had the opportunity to move up to the area full time in 2001. While at first is seemed a little scary (having lived on Long Island all of our lives) we quickly embraced the opportunity and have never looked back. Now almost seven years later, we continue to enjoy the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area, and continue to take advantage of all the area has to offer. We have three grandchildren who look forward to visiting "Grammy and Poppy" who can't wait to visit Nay Aug Park, the Train Museum, go boating, watch a Yankee, Penguin or Pioneer game, play in the snow, hit a few golf balls, or walk Lake Scranton. It has been a wonderful experience for me and my entire family, and we look forward to continuing our exploration of all that Northeast PA has to offer. I encourage you all to do the same. - Lou Abitabilo |
