The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have signed center Dustin Jeffrey to an
amateur tryout contract, it was announced on
Monday.
Jeffrey, 20, recently completed his
junior season with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, recording 38 goals, 59
assists and 97 points in 56 games. He led the Greyhounds in all three
categories, while ranking eighth in the Ontario Hockey League in assists and
ninth in points.
Selected by Pittsburgh in the sixth round (171st overall) of
the 2007 NHL draft, Jeffrey recording 252 points (100+152) in 246 games with
Sault Ste. Marie and Mississauga between 2003 and
2008.
The Penguins open the East Division
Finals round of the Calder Cup Playoffs with home games this Thursday, May 1 and
Saturday, May 3 against the Philadelphia Phantoms.
